Abstract

Training in resuscitation has traditionally centred on improving links in the chain of survival.1 Delivery of high quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation and timely defibrillation is the key to optimal patient outcome.2 It is also important that rescuers recognise how cardiac arrest event affect the lives of the patients. With the help of national registries, we now have a much better understanding of outcomes of survivors of cardiac arrests. The UK National Cardiac Arrest Audit recently published in 2014 and included 22,628 patients.
